Coulsons put in wheely good effort for Alzheimer’s Society

While the world’s elite athletes are busy preparing for the 2012 London Olympics, we recently took part in a challenge of our own for a very worthy cause...

On June 8 Coulsons took part in the UK200Group’s “Not the Olympics 2012” charity campaign, which aims to raise £50,000 for Alzheimer’s Society.

Participating member firms have been tasked with relaying an Olympic-style torch across the country, finishing at the Olympic Stadium in London in time for the Group’s annual conference in November.

The challenge kicked off in Perth on 19 May, with the torch then heading down to Glasgow, Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough, before reaching Coulsons on 2 June.

Coulsons’ partner Paul Hodgson transported the torch for more than 60 miles to Harrogate on his Yamaha Virago motorbike. Before setting off in the pouring rain at 3pm, the firm marked the occasion with a tea party for clients and associates at its offices. Paul reached the offices of the next participating firm at 5.30pm.

Paul said: “As a firm, we were delighted to be able to support this event for such a worthy cause. I really enjoyed taking part; although I had to ride in very wet weather I was still able to enjoy the lovely views by Sutton Bank."

“Alzheimer’s affects around 465,000 people in the UK, so we are grateful for all the support we have received so far from clients and colleagues. The money is still coming in, but we know it will help make a real difference to the lives of families blighted by this terrible disease.”
